Devon Allen, Owner of Allen Rustic Wood Designs, LLC found his passion working with his hands crafting wood at a very young age. His Nana would bring scrap wood home to keep him busy . As he grew older, he would work building fences and framing houses. For a short time, he worked for a plastic injection molding company that sent Devon to Drafting/Blueprint Reading classes. From there, he became lead carpenter for track home builders and eventually custom home builders. During that time, one of the builders asked Devon to construct an arbor attached to the front his custom home for wisteria vines and a large multi arched pergola with spiral stairs to an upper deck in the back. That Arbor is the company's logo and Devon established Allen Rustic Wood Designs in 2004. Our projects have included remodeling houses, but we have been specializing in building patio covers, pergolas and arbors ever since.

In 2011, Devon's wife, Allison resigned from her Medical Records Managing position and dove into the administrative side of the company. She handles the permit process, bookkeeping and website management.

Also in 2011, Devon answered an ad he came across on Craigslist. The construction project manager was looking for a carpenter. That company was Hawaiian Falls Waterparks in Roanoke. Devon has completed numerous projects at 6 of their locations from 2011 to 2017. 

In 2017 the company became Allen Rustic Wood Designs, LLC.

Devon's experience is extensive. His reputation proceeds him for his professionalism, attention to detail and craftsmanship.  He is sought out by other big box patio cover builders, pool companies and repeat customers.
